Conductor-in-Training

Each year The Australian Voices works with a young conductor to assist with their development. The Conductor-in-Training is given rehearsal time with the ensemble to experiment with their ideas and practice their technique.

The Australian Voices Conductor-in-Training for 2010 is Susan Creese. Susan is a primary school Music specialist at All Saints Anglican School on the Gold Coast. She has been involved in professional choral music throughout her studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and The University of Queensland, with her interest in Australian music growing throughout her six years as a singer in The Australian Voices. Susan conducts children choirs at All Saints and is committed to developing a love of singing and the high level of musicianship which can grow from it in her students, as well promoting an awareness and appreciation of quality Australian composition amongst school educators and communities.

In 2009 The Conductor-in-Training was Shane McPherson.

What they say

"Each work had clearly been thoroughly and meticulously prepared; the clear diction and accurate, secure intonation were among fundamental technical aspects of very musical and expressive singing"
